Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Oshan Mudannayake, who builds and operates Lektava (“Lektava”, “we”). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you are using Lektava on behalf of somebody else, you confirm you may bind them.

You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it — including keeping your password or passkey to yourself. Give an email address you can actually receive mail at; password resets and loan reminders go there. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else is using your account.

One person, one account. Do not share credentials — invite people into a library instead, which is what the invitation system is for.

The free plan is the whole product at a smaller size, and it does not expire. Every plan caps how much a library may hold — books, seats, active loans. Those caps, and the current prices, are listed on the pricing page, which is the authoritative statement of them. Prices may change, but never retroactively within a billing period you have already paid for.

Reaching a cap stops you adding new books. It never deletes, hides, or locks what you have already catalogued — you can still edit, search, lend and export all of it. Export and account removal are never restricted by plan.

Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. Your purchase is with Paddle, subject to its terms, and it — not Lektava — handles your billing details, taxes and invoices.

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Cancelling does not delete your catalogue. If you drop below a paid plan while over its limit, existing books stay readable, editable and exportable — you simply cannot add more.
• Refunds are handled under Paddle's buyer terms and any refund rights you have by law.

Everything you put into Lektava — your catalogue, your notes, your reviews, your uploaded covers — remains yours. You grant only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, to display it back to you and to people you have invited, and to include it in a public library or profile page if you have deliberately turned one on.

We do not read your catalogue, and we do not use it to train anything. You can export all of it at any time, on any plan.

Do not use Lektava to:

• upload content you have no right to upload, or that infringes somebody else's copyright;
• store unlawful material, or use a public library page to publish it;
• attack, overload, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or to another user's library;
• scrape or bulk-extract other people's public pages, or resell access to the service.

Lektava is built for home libraries and personal collections rather than institutional deployment; it offers no bulk administration, role hierarchy or single sign-on, and is not sold as fit for those uses.

Lektava is a small, independently run product. It is offered as-is and as-available, with no uptime guarantee. Maintenance happens; so, occasionally, do outages. Features may change, and any of them may be withdrawn — but if a change would remove access to data you have already put in, you will be told beforehand and given time to export it.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The export exists precisely so that this is easy.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Lektava is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data or lost profits.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which, on the free plan, is nothing. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

You can stop using Lektava whenever you like, and ask for your account to be deleted by writing to oshan.ivantha@gmail.com. What deletion removes is set out in the privacy policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 06, or where required by law. Except where the breach makes it impossible or unlawful, you will be given notice and a chance to export your catalogue first.

These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and account holders are notified by email of any change that materially affects their rights before it takes effect. Continuing to use Lektava after that means accepting the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
